Secondary 2 – English: Interesting Characters
Secondary 2 students learned the world of literature, focusing on the interesting characters. They learnt through some samples from novel extracts and poems. As part of the lesson, students were introduced to a sample of a nonsense poem that featured a unique and imaginative character.
After reading the poem, the class engaged in a discussion to analyze the poem and the character presented in it. The discussion helped students understand how writers create unusual and memorable characters through descriptive language and imaginative ideas.
Next, the students were asked to create their own interesting characters and write their own nonsense poems. They first sketched their ideas and drafted their poems on sketchbook paper before transforming their work into digital form.
The project encouraged students to use both creativity and critical thinking as they developed original characters and playful poems. The final results displayed the students’ imagination and their ability to express creative ideas through both writing and visual design.
