Secondary 2 – Chemistry: Displacement Reactions

After they learned about displacement reactions, Secondary 2 students tried to find out the more reactive metal that can displace a less reactive metal from its compound through experiment.

There are many ways to carry out this series of reactions. The one described here used the spotting tile method because it uses very small quantities of chemicals, and the whole set of experiments is displayed together, making comparison easier.

Students then made a lab report, and they demonstrated a good understanding of displacement reactions through a presentation. They also enjoyed the process and could see the displacement reaction in front of their eyes. ***
