Secondary 2 – Character Building: Self Discipline
In the Character Building session, Secondary 2 students learned about the topic of Self-Discipline. The activity began with watching a short video that illustrated examples of self-discipline in daily life.
After watching, students brainstormed ideas about what self-discipline means and why it is important. They shared their opinions about how self-discipline can affect study habits, time management and personal growth. Students then worked in groups to create a mind map that showed both the importance of self-discipline and practical strategies to practice it. Their maps included points such as setting goals, managing distractions, being consistent and practicing self-control. This step encouraged students to analyse the connection between habits and outcomes.
At the end of the session, each group presented its mind map in front of the class. This not only demonstrated their understanding of the concept but also allowed them to apply it to real-life situations, such as preparing for exams, maintaining healthy routines and achieving long-term goals. The activity highlighted the role of self-discipline as a foundation for both academic success and personal character growth. ***
