Secondary 2 – Character Building: Responsibility
Secondary 2 students began a character building session by watching a video about responsibility in teenagers. They recalled key points from the video, including examples of daily responsibilities at home, in school, and among peers. Students were able to define responsibility and identify everyday situations where it is practised.
After recalling the main ideas, students explained how responsibility could be applied in their own lives. They described real-life examples such as completing homework on time, helping family members, and following school rules. Each student presented their ideas or opinions about the video, making personal connections to their own experiences and understanding of the topic.
Students also discussed the consequences of being responsible versus being irresponsible. They analysed how their actions can impact themselves, their friends, and the broader community. During the presentations, students identified common challenges teenagers face in carrying out responsibilities, such as balancing academic tasks with social life, and they proposed practical solutions to overcome these challenges.
To deepen their learning, students suggested initiatives they could implement as a group to strengthen responsibility in their class. One of the ideas proposed was to create a peer support system for managing homework. Through these discussions and presentations, students demonstrated not only their understanding of responsibility as a character trait but also their ability to apply it meaningfully in both daily life and long-term situations. ***
