Secondary 2 – Biology: Urine Test

A urine test (urinalysis) is the process of testing the composition of the urine. Normal urine contains salts, excess vitamins, urea, ammonia, drugs, and water. However, a person who suffers from diabetes will have glucose in their urine. On this occasion, students learned to prove that urine is contained in a diabetic person. They used Benedict as the reagent and urine as the material. The apparatus they used are pipette, bunsen, test tube, match, and holder.

They took the urine with the pipette and dropped it in the test tube. Then they dripped 5 drops of Benedict into the urine and heated it until discoloration appeared. The result was the urine changed color to light green. It was proven that the urine contained sugar/glucose. They were excited and happy during the activities. In the end, they made a simple report about the experiment as a data collection. ***
