Secondary 2 – Biology: Respiratory System

The human respiratory system is susceptible to a variety of diseases, ranging from mild infections to chronic, life-threatening conditions. In their Secondary 2 science class, students explored several respiratory diseases, including pneumonia, influenza, asthma, lung cancer, bronchitis, and sinusitis. They studied each disease’s definition, causes, risk factors, symptoms, and available treatments.

To deepen their understanding, students then created a mind map for a respiratory disease of their choice. In these mind maps, they visually organized and presented the information they had gathered from the teacher and class discussions. This exercise not only reinforced their knowledge but also helped them develop skills in organizing complex information in a clear, structured, and visually engaging way. By connecting ideas through visual representation, students enhanced their ability to process and retain information, laying a strong foundation for critical thinking and deeper comprehension. ***
