Secondary 2 and 3 – English: Collaborative Learning
Literary devices are used by writers to meet their needs in delivering their ideas to the readers. All students are expected to understand the literary devices used by the writers as the techniques to improve their writing.
Secondary 2 and 3 students were given a chance to learn literary devices collaboratively. Secondary 2 students were paired up with Secondary 3 students. Secondary 2 students were asked to create a letter to share what they had learned about literary devices with Secondary 3 students. Secondary 2 also gave some questions about the materials. Before handing the letters to Secondary 3 students, the teacher checked the content to make sure that Secondary 2 students would share valid information. On the next day, Secondary 2 students were invited to Secondary 3 class to share their knowledge about the literary devices. Then, Secondary 2 students gave the letters to Secondary 3 students. It was a must for Secondary 3 students to answer the questions given by Secondary 2 students.
This collaborative learning was aimed at enriching the students’ knowledge about the given topic and building better communication between levels. ***
