Secondary 1 – Physics Sound: Longitudinal Wave and Transverse Wave
Secondary 1 students conducted an experiment aimed at identifying the different types of waves present in water. Utilizing a tray, pebble, and water, they engaged in observational tasks to discern longitudinal and transverse waves. Their observations showed that shaking the water and tray produced longitudinal waves while dropping the pebble onto the water’s surface generated transverse waves. This hands-on activity not only fostered critical thinking but also enhanced communication skills as students collaborated in groups.
The experience was enjoyable, as evidenced by the students’ high levels of excitement throughout the experiment. ***
