Secondary 1 – Physics: Conduct Vernier Caliper Experiment

Secondary 1 students carried out an engaging science experiment to explore the use of the Vernier Caliper, a precision measuring instrument. The students were divided into small groups consisting of two members each.

During the experiment, they measured various objects such as a board marker, a science book and several other items of their own choice. Each group carefully observed the main scale and the Vernier scale readings to determine accurate measurements.

After collecting their data, the students compiled their findings into a detailed science report, which served as the final outcome of their experiment. Through this hands-on activity, students not only learned how to properly use the Vernier Caliper but also understood its function and importance in scientific measurement.

This experiment successfully encouraged teamwork, critical thinking and practical understanding of measurement tools in everyday science. ***
