Secondary 1 – OLP: Exploring Mr Carl Valiquet Gallery
Secondary 1 students visited the photo gallery for an outdoor learning program. Mr Carl Valiquet Gallery was the final destination in a series of Outdoor Learning Program activities. After they arrived at Mr Carl’s gallery, they were welcomed into his house and had a session listening to his experiences in photography from a young age. Students asked many things ranging from the philosophy of a visual object, tools for photography, the types of images produced, and how a photo tells a story to the viewer to modern photography.
Students also get new experiences by touring his private gallery. They entered his gallery in small groups and took turns while Mr Carl explained his work. This activity involves communication and critical thinking of students when observing. It was fun, and they looked forward to their next visit to the gallery. ***
