Secondary 1 – Maths: Parts of Cirle
Secondary 1 students studied circles and the important roles in each part. It started with a hula-hoop game, the students learned that the hula-hoop can rotate around our body because the hula-hoop has curved sides. Then the teacher explained the parts of each circle and their function using a hula hoop as a realia.
The teacher gave a simple game where the students were asked to enter the hula hoop area according to the part of the circle or function mentioned. This was a ‘remembering’ stage of the activity so that students really knew the parts of each circle and their function. Next, the students were asked to make a product using the parts of a circle with the tools and materials they had chosen. In the next session, as a form of assessment, the students presented their work. The students were so enthusiastic about the learning process and had meaningful learning experiences. ***
