Secondary 1 – Maths: Factors and Multiples
Our Secondary 1 mathematicians unlocked the secrets of Number theory as they mastered Highest Common Factors (HCF) and Lowest Common Multiples (LCM)!
Connecting prior knowledge of basic factors and multiples, students advanced to learning three distinct calculation methods for finding HCF and LCM. To test their math agility, the young problem-solvers tackled identical problems using all three strategies side-by-side—comparing steps, debating efficiency, and explaining their unique approaches to classmates. The session wrapped up with an independent challenge where students applied their preferred methods to complex word problems with total confidence.
By testing multiple strategies, peer-teaching, and tackling multi-step calculations, S1 built flexibility, collaborative reasoning, and deep mathematical mastery!
