Secondary 1 – Maths: 3D shapes (Part 1)
S1 students embarked on a journey of 3D exploration, focusing on cubes and rectangular prisms, but not through textbooks – instead they jumped into the adventure with the recycled cardboard boxes they had brought with them. These boxes served as their investigative tools, leading them to a deep understanding of the properties and concepts of volume.
Through a series of investigations, the students not only recognized volume as the total amount of space occupied by an object in three dimensions but also understood its distinction from capacity. These recycled boxes were not only used as a tool for learning about volume but also for studying the total surface area of objects. This experience was certainly a meaningful learning journey. ***
