Secondary 1 – English: Making a Presentation
Presentation skills are essential in today’s life to help people communicate effectively and properly. The skills are part of the learning objectives in the Secondary curriculum. In Secondary 1, the presentation was taken as the speaking and writing activities. The students were expected to be able to plan a presentation and present it to the audience. In planning the presentation, the students had to pay attention to some aspects such as the audience, media, and information. Folktales and cultures were the topic of the presentation.
The students read two folktales; ‘Stripes Tiger and the Boy’ and ‘Why the Sky is So High’. In a group of three, the students were asked to analyze the folktales based on their features. Then, they were asked to find out the country of origin of the folktales. They had to study the cultures in the country and evaluate the cultures in the stories. Hence, they had to study the cultures in the country by doing survey knowledge on the Internet. They should collect valid information and select the necessary information for their presentation. Lastly, they did the presentation in front of the class. ***
