Secondary 1 – Chemistry: Mini-Conference on the State of Matter
Secondary 1 scientists transformed everyday household items into compelling scientific stories during an interactive Phase Changes Mini-Conference!
Eight student groups presented real-world state changes using custom narratives and particle model illustrations. Presentations ranged from the melting and re-solidifying of chocolate and Dubai wax candles to the boiling and steaming that transforms dry noodles into soft meals. Throughout the conference, students actively debated particle behavior behind each physical transformation.
By bringing abstract particle theory down to a molecular level, Secondary 1 strengthened their conceptual knowledge, visual design skills, and scientific communication!
