Secondary 1 – Chemistry: Exploring Chemistry in Action: Secondary 1 Topic Test on Chemical Reactions
Secondary 1 students engaged in an experiment based Topic Test focusing on chemical and physical changes as well as the signs of chemical reactions. This interactive assessment aimed to deepen their understanding of fundamental chemistry concepts through practical experimentation.
The students conducted two key experiments. The first was exploring the differences between chemical and physical changes. The second experiment was identifying the signs of chemical reactions, including colour changes, gas production and temperature shifts. Then, they were asked to answers some questions, reporting the result of the experiment and its related topic in a test record sheet.
This activity becomes a broader effort to make science assessment more engaging and practical. It is expected that this kind of experiment based assessment will stimulate curiosity, creativity and interesting exploration on Chemistry further. By doing so, students are able to build a strong foundation in scientific inquiry—one reaction at a time. ***
