Primary 6 – Orientation Week: Recalling Human Brain Anatomy
For the orientation week, P6 students recalled their memory about human brain anatomy. In the beginning, the teacher opened the discussion by recalling their IPC learning in P5. Based on the student’s answers, the teacher continued by recalling the human brain anatomy, such as the frontal lobe, cerebellum, etc. At this moment, students gathered in groups of 4. Each group needed to arrange the jumbled letters that were pasted in front of the classroom. After arranging the letter into words frontal lobe, cerebellum, spinal cord, etc, the teacher asked how each human brain anatomy worked. As an example, the frontal lobe involves the recognition of smell, etc.
By having this activity, students may activate their prior knowledge about human brain anatomy. Later, when they are learning about brainwave metacognition, it will be easier for the students to understand it. Moreover, students were so curious and excited about having this activity. ***
