Primary 6 – English: Figurative Language
In their English lesson, P6 students delved into figurative language in poetry. They were introduced to various types of figurative language, including rhyme, simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and more. As part of the learning process, students were also guided in identifying examples of these literary devices within poems, enhancing their understanding of how figurative language adds depth and meaning to poetry.
To solidify their understanding, students worked in groups to create posters about figurative language. Each group defined the different types and provided examples of the figurative language they had studied. This collaborative activity not only reinforced their knowledge but also gave them an opportunity to practice discussing and sharing ideas in a respectful and cooperative manner.
The students approached this task with enthusiasm, enjoying the chance to apply what they had learned in a creative and interactive way. By the end of the lesson, they had developed a deeper appreciation for figurative language and its role in making poetry more expressive and engaging. ***
