Primary 5 – Reading Program: Let’s Go Journaling
February is here and BRT is coming. P5 have been preparing for the big event in a form of making a reading journal. From mid-December to January, they’ve filled each section of their journal according to what they’ve read in their book.
To fill in each section of the journal, they not only needed to read their book but also tried to find out the elements that appears, like the main characters, settings, even the plot. They wrote it down and some even drew it making a visualisation on their journal. This served as a practice to analyse a text that they’ve learnt both in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
This reading journal acted as a guide for their presentation in future BRT. If students find themselves lost and do not know what to do, they can look up their reading journal to keep on track. They also learnt how to choose their material on what they could share in a certain short time. It became a hint or even template for their strategy in their presentation.
Hopefully, with this reading journal, student will be more confident during their presentation. At the very least, they can remember what they’ve written. Their practice is coming soon. We wish them the best of luck.
