Primary 5 – IPC: Get Ready for Learning about Puberty
As the entry point in Unit of Learning Puberty, P5 students had a meaningful discussion with their group members to compose “Rules and Boundaries when Learning about Puberty”. This topic was challenging and interesting at the same time for them because they talk everything about themselves as a person. First, they had to decide the members in their groups with consideration that the group would be responsible for finishing the tasks and the discussion itself would be focused on the material.
Before having discussion in groups, students had a discussion with the teacher to underline the points needed to be put more concern about, such as respect and scientific material that they also could learn in this unit of learning. This activity was followed by composing the two points to be considered as the rules and boundaries when they learn about puberty.
This activity is aimed to prepare the students’readiness in learning a topic that will give them new point of view about puberty. By setting up rules and boundaries, students will have a guidance about how to act and react the information related to puberty. It is expected that students can feel comfortable and be more focused on the material learned.
After this series of activities, students can build their awareness about preparing themselves to face puberty phase in their lives as a normal phase that they have to be ready for it. Thus, the students will be ready for learning puberty as well as understand and accept the changes that may happen with a growth mindset.
