Primary 5 – IPC: Brainwave

In the IPC lesson with the theme Brainwave, Primary 5 students explored their own strengths by identifying skills they already have—ranging from art, sports, and music to games—before narrowing them down to a specific topic. The challenge was to plan and teach this skill to a classmate.

The activity began with a review of the three types of learning: knowledge, skills, and understanding. The focus then shifted to skills, where students listed their abilities and designed a lesson plan to teach their peers. They wrote learning goals, planned activities, and prepared materials, which encouraged them to think ahead, organize ideas, and develop both creativity and confidence. To make the learning even more engaging, students were allowed to dress in outfits that matched the theme or skill they were teaching.

On the teaching day, each student took turns stepping into the role of the teacher while classmates became the learners. They demonstrated their chosen skills, explained the steps clearly, and guided their peers through hands-on practice. Some lessons included games, creative projects, or real-life demonstrations, making the classroom atmosphere lively and interactive.

This meaningful experience helped students strengthen multiple competencies: confidence in sharing knowledge, clear communication, leadership, and teamwork. By teaching others, they also deepened their own understanding and learned how to adapt explanations for different audiences.

Beyond the classroom, these skills will continue to benefit students in their daily lives—shaping them to become effective communicators, problem-solvers, and lifelong learners. ***
