Primary 4 – Maths: Learning Time, Family Time, Creative Time!
This week, Primary 4 students dove into the world of time through a meaningful and creative math project. After learning how to read and use both the 12-hour and 24-hour clock formats, students were challenged to apply their new skills in a real-life context by designing a holiday itinerary with their families.
At home, students collaborated with their parents to plan a full day of holiday activities. The next day at school, they transferred their itinerary onto drawing paper, using either clock format to record each event. With colorful decorations and thoughtful layouts, each timetable became a unique reflection of their creativity and understanding of time.
To deepen their learning, students then selected three of their favorite activities from the itinerary and calculated how long each one lasted. They presented their calculations clearly, showcasing not only their grasp of time intervals but also their developing problem-solving skills.
This joyful blend of math, art, and family engagement transformed a simple concept into a memorable and enriching learning experience. What a brilliant job by our junior time-trackers! ***
