Primary 3 – Science: Matter and Mixtures

In science, the P3 students learned about matter and mixtures. They learned that materials can be solids, liquids, or gases. They also learned that the materials in a mixture can be physically separated. In this activity, the students carried out an experiment to separate a solid/solid mixture and a solid/liquid mixture. The teacher asked the students to separate sand and pebbles, coffee and water, sand and iron filler, or flour with paper clips.

The teacher provided equipment such as a sieve, magnet, and filter paper. The pupils had to separate the mixtures using the correct equipment. They were excited to experiment. ***
