Primary 3 – IPC: Simple Machine

Simple machine becomes one of the interesting yet challenging topics discussed in IPC Inventions that Changed the World. P3 students learnt this topic by having various and continuous activities.

As a Kickstarter, students were introduced to the knowledge of simple machines by visiting the playground in Manahan. There, students could find several fitness equipment such as static bicycles, mary-go-round, single slide, and chest presses. Students were given chances to observe, identify, and experience how the equipment works as a simple machine. Next activity, students obtained a deeper knowledge about simple machines by inviting Mr. Rafi, a physics teacher from FIS Secondary, to give further explanation as well as their functions in daily life. For further experience, students got the chance to try using the simple machines. They’ve got to lift the pail to learn to use the pulley, move the car in an inclined plane, pull the nail to learn how to use wedge and lever, and many more.

These activities bring students closer to gaining knowledge, skill, and understanding about simple machines, and make them engaged well. ***
