Primary 3 – Global Perspective Entry Point: Time Travel Museum
To begin Global Perspective in Term 2, P3 students had a very special activity called Entry Point: Time Travel Museum in the Indonesia Room. The teacher transformed the Indonesia room into a museum displaying different objects in three rooms. In Room 1: Knowledge Seekers, students explored inventions such as the radio, the typewriter, and the book Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang. In Room 2: Creative Listeners, they listened to meaningful songs like Bengawan Solo, Heal the World, and Selalu Ada di Nadimu. In Room 3: History Explorers, they observed portraits of changemakers like Michael Jackson, Gesang, and Ir. Soekarno. At last, students reflected and shared what inspired them most on the Changemakers Wall.
This activity was designed to spark curiosity and provide prior knowledge for our new theme, They Made a Difference. As the students moved from room to another, their curiosity grew stronger. By seeing old inventions, listening to powerful songs, and recognizing significant figures, students began connecting how people and their creations can bring change to the world. The museum worked like a doorway to history by encouraging students to ask, wonder, and feel inspired before diving deeper into the theme.
As a result, students became more engaged and build reflective thinking. They didn’t just learn about objects or people, but also started to see the meaning behind them. Their written reflections showed how each student connected personally (some were inspired by music, some by inventions, and some by nation leaders). This activity helped them realize that history and changes are all connected to their own lives.
Introducing this experience helps students develop an appreciation for history and culture, while also inspiring them to think about how they can make a difference. By planting seeds of curiosity and reflection, the Time Travel Museum experience encourages students to grow into changemakers themselves, carrying these lessons forward into their learning and their future. ***
