Primary 3 – English: The Frog and The Emperor Play Performance

At the end of ‘Playscripts : Traditional Tales’ unit, Primary 3 students did the play performance on Thursday, February 13th, 2025 in Austria room. Students performed a story from China entitled The Frog and The Emperor. That story was divided into two parts with eight scenes. The captain of both classes took a roll paper to decide the story that they would play.

After knowing the part of story that they would play, the students were divided into eight groups representing each scenes. With their group, the students got a chance to decide the role on their own. The students should be responsible with their decision. When they had to decide the character, they had to be responsible to memorise the line and the turn to act. The students not only had to memorise the lines, they had to put their creativity in exploring the facial expression, body movement, and also the voice, like their characters.

The students were encouraged to be more confidence. On the day of performance, several teachers watched their performance. They enjoyed the performance since it was P3 students’ first experience in having the play performance. The goal for this activity was not only about boosting the students’ confidence. Communicating well, solving the problems, and helping each other in a group were also being a highlighted part in this activity. Students encouraged each other during the process of preparing the play performance. Mastering those skills will allow students to learn better and put the skills into everyday life practices.
