Primary 2 – Maths: Exploring Multiplication through Maths Wheels

In our recent Math class, the students reviewed multiplication tables of 1, 2, 5, and 10. They practiced these facts through quick drills and exercises, which helped them get better and more confident with multiplication.

After reviewing, the students made multiplication wheels. They used materials like circle papers and push pins. They wrote the numbers on the wheels to match the multiplication tables. This activity was fun and helped them see how multiplication works.

As they worked on their wheels, the students noticed patterns in multiplication. For example, they saw that numbers multiplied by 5 ends in 0 or 5 and numbers multiplied by 10 always end in 0. They also discussed these patterns, which helped them understand multiplication better.

At the end of the lesson, the students used their wheels to help them solve simple multiplication problems. They worked in pairs to help each other and took turns challenging others. This made the activity fun and gave them more practice with multiplication. Besides, through the activity using multiplication wheels, students got experience that foster a deeper understanding of multiplication and its applications.
