Primary 2 – Global Perspective From A to B: Transport Through Time.

Last week, our Primary 2 students became time travelers in their GP History lesson! The adventure began when their teachers introduced the words “past” and “modern.” Looking at a picture of a modern car, the children were asked if cars were always like that. They learned that historians use a special tool called a “timeline” to show the order of events, which helps everyone see how things change.

The classroom buzzed with excitement as the children worked in small groups. Each group was given mixed-up pictures showing the history of one type of transport, like cars or bicycles. Their mission was to work as a team to place the images in the correct order from oldest to newest on a big floor timeline. They had to look carefully at the pictures, talk to each other, and use their reasoning skills to decide which transport came first.

To become true experts, the class was then divided into special groups, each focusing on one transport type, like planes or boats. Using envelopes full of pictures and simple fact cards, the groups had to research and agree on the correct order. They then created their own beautiful paper timelines, carefully drawing a line and gluing and labeling each picture with its name.

The impact of this hands-on activity was wonderful to see. The children were so proud of the timelines they built together. They didn’t just learn facts; they truly understood how to put events in order and see the story of change. This project brilliantly strengthened their teamwork and communication skills, showing them that history is a fun and active adventure! ***
