Early Year 2 – Orientation Week Gross Motor Fun: Run, Jump, Kick!
As part of Orientation Week, the EY2 students joined a fun gross motor session that brought big smiles and happy energy to the playground. They ran in a zigzag path, jumped through hoops, and kicked balls into the goal. For the jumping activity, they used both feet when jumping into one hoop, and split their feet when jumping into two hoops. It was exciting to watch them try new movements with joy and confidence.
Gross motor play is not just fun—it’s also very important for young children. It helps them build strong muscles, improve balance and coordination, and learn to control their bodies. For many children, school is one of the few places where they can move freely and safely.
Fun and active experiences like this help children feel happy at school. It makes them more comfortable, more connected to their friends, and ready to enjoy learning. Today’s activity was not only healthy, but also full of laughter and teamwork. What a great way to begin the school year! ***
