Early Year 2 – Entry Point Time: Traveler’s Adventure

This week, EY2 students went on a magical time travel adventure as part of their IEYC learning. It began with a surprise—our very own time machine in the classroom! They were excited and curious. They shared ideas, asked questions, and explored the shiny silver box together.

Inside, they found a mysterious rhyme inviting them to travel through time. With music and imagination, we chanted the rhyme and began our journey. A slide show of future schools and a short video helped children imagine what school might be like one day.

Through this activity, children built personal connections, developed language, and expressed their ideas creatively. They learned new words like clockdaynighthellogoodbye, and class in a meaningful way.

When the time machine “broke,” the children used problem-solving and teamwork to design repairs using toy tools and craft materials. To wrap up, we played the “Magic Word Mirror” game, helping children build confidence in speaking, reading, and moving. This kind of imaginative play supports IEYC goals by encouraging communication, enquiry, collaboration, and joyful learning through experience and exploration. ***
