Early Year 2 – English: Let’s Go on a Litter Hunt!
EY2 students learned an important lesson about keeping their surroundings clean through a fun and meaningful activity inspired by the video Let’s Go on a Litter Hunt. From the story, they discovered why cleanliness matters and how small actions like picking up litter can make a big difference to the environment. The discussion helped children notice the contrast between clean and dirty places and encouraged them to take care of their own spaces.
To deepen understanding, students joined a role-play activity using pretend litter such as bottles, cans, and paper. Working together, they sorted the items into Plastic, Paper, and Metal boxes. This hands-on task not only reinforced sorting and categorising skills but also built cooperation and responsibility. Through role play, children experienced what it feels like to take action and care for the world around them.
By connecting the story, play, and reflection, students internalised the message that everyone can help keep spaces clean. Such meaningful experiences nurture environmental awareness, develop early problem-solving skills, and empower children to become responsible, caring individuals both in school and at home. ***
