Early Year 2 – English: Glitter Bottles

Early Year 2 – English: Glitter Bottles

EY2 students were invited to create their very own Glitter Bottles as part of learning about calming strategies. By filling bottles with water, glitter, and sequins, students discovered how shaking the bottle makes the glitter swirl, which is just like when our feelings become busy or mixed up. Watching the glitter slowly settle helps them understand how emotions can calm down with time and deep breaths.

This activity gave the students the chance to practise calming routines they can use whenever they feel anxious, worried, angry, or frustrated, or even when they simply need to relax after an active session. At the same time, they expanded their emotional vocabulary, strengthened their ability to follow step by step instructions, and built confidence in expressing how they feel.

Through making glitter bottles, EY2 learners are not only exploring creativity but also developing lifelong strategies for self-regulation, emotional intelligence, and healthy habits that support both the mind and the heart. ***
