Early Year 2 – Arts: My Friend’s Portrait

Early Year 2 – Arts: My Friend’s Portrait

In our Arts activity, EY2 students joyfully celebrated Children’s Day—a meaningful occasion that honors the uniqueness, rights, and voices of children around the world. This celebration reminds us that every child is special, valued, and deserves to be heard and respected.

To express this important message, students created heartfelt portraits of their friends. This artistic activity not only allowed them to show appreciation for one another, but also helped them recognize and celebrate the differences that make each person beautifully unique. The classroom buzzed with joy and focus as children carefully observed their peers, sketched thoughtful details, and proudly brought their drawings to life with color. Each portrait became a symbol of kindness, friendship, and mutual respect.

This creative experience supported the development of fine motor coordination and observation skills, while also encouraging self-expression and emotional reflection. Most importantly, it nurtured a strong sense of connection and empathy among the students. ***

Through this joyful activity, EY2 learners discovered a powerful message: every child is one of a kind—and that is truly something to celebrate.
