Early Year 1 – Science: Walking Water
The EY1 students had an exciting science experiment exploring the fascinating concept of capillary action, where water moves through tiny spaces called pores. They watched a video about the Walking Water Experiment and discovered how materials like tissue and fabric can absorb and transport water.
Through hands-on exploration, the students made predictions, observed how colored water “walked” from one cup to another using tissue, and compared it with non-porous materials that didn’t absorb water. By the end of the activity, they shared their observations and explained the process of capillary action in their own words, demonstrating their ability to think critically and connect ideas.
This fun-filled activity not only inspired their curiosity but also developed problem-solving and observation skills, making science a truly engaging adventure!
