Early Year 1 – Science: Melting Ice Experiment
EY1 students explored polar bears and the Arctic through a fun, hands-on activity. They sang “A Big White Bear” and talked about the polar bear’s white fur, learning how it keeps them warm and hidden in the snow. After watching a video about the Arctic, students explored ice and tried melting it with hot and cold water, noticing that hot water melts ice faster than cold water.
Students also connected their observations to the Arctic, discussing how melting ice affects animals and simple ways we can help protect the Earth, like turning off unused lights, planting more trees, etc. This activity helped students practice noticing details, understand cause-effect, and caring for the environment.
