Early Year 1 – Maths: Send the Snakes Off!
EY1 students were thrilled to participate in a math lesson with a fun twist. In this lesson, they learned that snakes can be dangerous animals, so it’s best to keep a safe distance. With this in mind, the students were invited to play a game where they helped “send the snakes away.”
Each student received a ball marked with a snake picture and a number. Their task was to recognize the number, and then guide the ball through a maze to the correct hole, effectively “sending the snake off.” This activity was designed to strengthen students’ ability to recognize consecutive numbers (“the number after”) and to build problem-solving skills through the maze game.
The hands-on activity kept students engaged and provided a fun way to reinforce foundational math and motor skills. ***
