Early Year 1 – Learning Project: My Travel Camera (Day 3 & 4)
EY1 students continued their My Travel Camera project on Days 3 and 4 by turning their plans into real prototypes. They began by recalling their designs and observing a sample camera made from recycled materials. Students then built their own cameras by cutting the template, pasting it onto cardboard, painting lens and the body, attaching a paper-cup lens and a bottle-cap button. This hands-on process strengthened their fine motor skills, sequencing, and craftsmanship.
The next day, students decorated their cameras and created a pull-out film strip that illustrated their imagined travel stories, including who they met, where they went, and what they saw. During the Highlight and Revise session, they checked each part, fixed loose pieces, and added final touches. Through this project, students developed creativity, observation, storytelling, and confidence in improving their own work. ***
