Early Year 1 – English: Dicovering the Fossils!
EY1 students had the chance to learn about a profession called paleontologist who studied fossils. They were invited to experience what it’s like to be a paleontologist by excavating toy fossils from the ground. With great enthusiasm, they carefully brushed away the sand to uncover the types of fossils hidden beneath sand. After discovering the fossils, they counted how many they had collected and mentioned types of fossils.
This activity was designed not only to strengthen students’ understanding of numbers but also to encourage them to boosts self-confidence as they take on different roles. Moreover, this activity helped students developing their resilience as they repeatedly worked to brush away the sand to uncover the fossils. The students also had chance to collaborate learning to take turns, solving the problem and working to reach the goal.
