Baby Class- Fine Motor: Spoon Out Pom Pom

Baby Class- Fine Motor: Spoon Out Pom Pom

In this week, the babies conducted a fine motor activity entitled “Spoon Out the Pom Pom”. They explored the playground and found the floating colorful pom pom in the basin.

The babies had a chance to explore the floating pom pom while having a water play. After they had enough time for exploration, they were encouraged to hold a spoon properly, spoon the pom pom correctly, and drop it in the plastic cup.

Spoon Out Pom Pom emphasized developing the baby’s fine motor skills. The babies were introduced to holding the spoon properly and they were assisted in managing their hands for taking the pom pom using a spoon. Their finger coordination was stimulated when they held and correctly moved the spoon. Besides, eye-hand coordination was also improved as they needed to see where the pom pom exactly moved.

Spooning activity is important to be introduced for babies to improve their practical life skills, then later on it will impact their independence in self-feeding. The babies need to be stimulated with fine motor skills based on their age as it will support their writing skills hence they will get ready for having writing activity in the future. ***
