Anita Kesuma Arum
Hello! I’m Ms. Anita, and I teach Maths to my Primary 6 students, where I enjoy helping them see how maths connects to the world around them. What keeps me coming back each day is watching them think, struggle, and gradually grow in confidence and belief in themselves.
I’ve been teaching at FIS for a year now, and it has been a meaningful one. One challenge I’ve been working through is finding better ways to explain Maths through Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), so that my students can see it not as something abstract, but as something real and connected to their everyday lives. It’s something I’m still developing, but each lesson brings me a little closer to getting it right. Beyond the classroom, what keeps me here is the environment. FIS feels like a learning community where not only students grow, but teachers do too. The support I receive from those around me, and the way we all keep learning together, reminds me that growth is never something we do alone. I keep learning, just as my students do.
I joined FIS to teach, but I’ve found myself learning just as much.
