Secondary – Reading Program: Creative Expression and Applying the Values
Secondary students have been actively participating in the Reading Program, where they explored various books and shared their understanding with their peers. Through this process, students not only developed their reading and communication skills, but also learned to appreciate different perspectives and ideas from the stories.
Beyond reading and sharing, students were encouraged to apply the values they discovered in the books to their daily lives. To support this, they created daily journals, reflecting on their actions and experiences that relate to the values they learned. This activity helped students build meaningful connections between literature and real-life situations.
To deepen their understanding, students also expressed their reflections through a range of creative projects. These activities allowed them to explore their imagination while demonstrating their comprehension of the story’s values.
In Visual & Art Expression, students created comic strips based on important scenes from the book. Through Performance & Media, they brought stories to life by performing monologues as characters and producing book review videos. Meanwhile, in Writing Expression, students wrote poetry inspired by their readings, letters to characters, created alternate endings, and even developed sequel chapters to continue the story.
Through these diverse and engaging activities, students not only strengthened their literacy skills but also developed creativity, empathy, and the ability to reflect on values in meaningful ways.
