Secondary FIS and SMP Theresiana Semarang Connect Through Immersion Program
Secondary FIS recently opened its doors to students from SMP Theresiana Semarang for a collaborative immersion program. The visit focused on sharing our school’s English-speaking habits and language skills within a natural learning environment. It was a fantastic opportunity for both schools to connect, giving our guests a chance to see how we use English as a tool for communication and discovery throughout the day.
The program was packed with hands-on activities, divided into three creative stations: Cooking, Arts, and Design. Beyond just practicing English, the visitors were introduced to Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), where they saw how math concepts apply to everyday tasks. These sessions were designed to be both fun and meaningful, ensuring that the guest students weren’t just observing, but were actively involved in the learning process.
The success of the day was largely thanks to the leadership of three Secondary 3 representatives—Rizka, Zizi, and Jeanette—who served as Students Escort. These three leaders did an outstanding job guiding the Theresiana students through each activity. Their support helped our guests feel welcome and encouraged them to participate fully, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable for everyone involved.
By the end of the program, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. During the reflection session, the visiting students shared that they had learned many new things while having a great time. The high level of enthusiasm from both the guests and our own students showed that this immersion was a success, building new friendships and leaving everyone with a better appreciation for interactive learning.
