Secondary 3 – Visual Arts: Visual Story Telling

Secondary 3 students made their final stage of the learning cycle of the theme ‘Art and Social Commentary’. This time, the students presented their hard work through the Visual Story Telling Competition. The pairs shown the visualization of the stories that they created into the story telling or drama performance completed with the 3D properties, costumes, slides and also videos. All the properties they made was handmade from the recycled materials, like cardboard, hard papers, etc. The students collaborate with partners to deliver the stories and also the moral values behind their acts in the stage. As part of the assessment, there were scoring criteria that they need to accomplished, such as the properties also costumes, supporting tools like pictures or songs and presentation itself. Ms. Tika and Ms.Christy were chosen as the judges for this competition.

The students’ performance was the final product of the learning activities that they have experienced, start with collecting ideas, drafting, sketching plan, the making of the stories and properties, fixing session, practicing and performing. During the making process, students have received feedback every meetings as part of their reflection of things they need to revise or add related to the project. 

The long process of learning that the students had, aims to build cooperation and communication between pairs. They also learn how to face the problems and challenging they got during the making process and performances. Moreover, respecting others when they present in stage is one of the values that the students need to improved besides evaluation of the whole activities shared inside and outside the class. ***
