Secondary 3 – Physics: Prove Static Electricity

Secondary 3 students learned to prove the Static Electricity. Balloons, tissue paper, plastic ruler, and pieces of paper were used to prove the Static Electricity phenomena. They did observations to check how the electron moves. First, they used a balloon and rubbed it with their hair or clothes, then put them closer to the tissue paper. Second, they rubbed a plastic ruler on their hair or clothes and then put it closer to the tissue paper and piece of paper. Then, the students made the report based on the observations.

Based on both observations, the balloon could attract the tissue paper, and the plastic ruler could attract the pieces of paper and the piece of paper. This activity triggered students’ critical thinking and communication skills as they worked individually. It was fun, and they looked forward to their next Physics experiment. ***
