Secondary 2 – Maths: Algebraic Expressions and Formulae for Travel Planner

In the topic of Algebraic Expressions and Formulae, Secondary 2 students learned that a situation could be represented either in words or as a formula (involving mixed operations). The teacher invited students to undertake a project to create a travel planner. Students were asked to design a travel planner that accounted for the number of participants as a coefficient affecting various expenses, with the expenses acting as variables.

The goal was to create an efficient and enjoyable itinerary within a specified budget. This project integrated mathematical concepts into real-life planning, encouraging logical and creative thinking in setting the counting strategy through the use of algebraic modeling and optimization. It not only provided students with a hands-on application of algebra but also allowed them to develop organizational and budgeting skills while planning fun and efficient activities. ***
