Secondary 2 – English: Express Yourself
In the Express Yourself topic, Secondary 2 students explored how people express their thoughts and emotions in various ways. From the textbook, they learned that self-expression can take many forms—some people write diaries, others confide in close friends, and many share their feelings on social media.
As part of the learning activity, students were asked to reflect on their favorite digital influencers and how these influencers impact them. They selected a specific piece of content from their chosen influencer, such as a video, post, or stream, and shared it with a classmate. Afterward, they discussed why the content resonated with them and how it made them feel. The range of influencers and content was broad, covering everything from hobbies like music, reading, and gaming to practical tips on beauty and cooking.
This activity not only gave students the opportunity to express their personal feelings and preferences but also helped them develop active listening skills and mutual respect for their peers’ interests. Through these discussions, they learned to appreciate diverse forms of expression, deepening their understanding of both themselves and others. What a meaningful way to encourage communication, empathy, and self-awareness! ***
