Toddler – Maths: Numbers recognition

During a lesson about the jungle, Toddler students engaged in a fun, imaginative play activity where they pretended to search for animals living in the jungle. As part of their adventure, they navigated through various obstacles, such as walking on balancing beams, crawling, and hopping, adding an exciting physical challenge to the experience. After “finding” the animals, they brought them back to class and matched them to animal puppets labeled with numbers 0-3.

This activity not only helped students develop early math skills by practicing number recognition, but also supported their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. The obstacle course strengthened their gross motor skills, while working with peers encouraged cooperation and social interaction. Additionally, the role-playing aspect nurtured their creativity and imagination, allowing them to immerse themselves in the world of the jungle. Overall, this dynamic, multi-sensory activity was a well-rounded learning experience, blending math, movement, and creative play to enhance both skill development and enjoyment. ***
