Primary 6 – Orientation Day: Anti-Bullying Sharing Session

On Wednesday and Thursday in the first week school orientation, P6 students had done two sequel of sharing sessions which focused on building awareness about bullying. Awareness about bullying is needed to be built to strengthen their good behaviour in act and talk with different friends or people surround them, in real life or even in virtual life.

This sequel of bullying sharing sessions started with classroom discussion with teachers. Students were asked to share their thoughts and experiences by answering some questions such as “What makes you feel comfortable and uncomfortable with your friends or even teachers?”, “Do you have unpleasant experience in previous level? Would you mind sharing it?”, “Do you think that all unpleasant moment you have experienced is included in bullying?”. Through those classroom discussion teachers gained the data about how far the students know about bullying. On the next session, P6 students and teachers gathered in Indonesia room to have sharing session. Students got to know more about the indication of bullying, the effect of bullying and tips for preventing or dealing with bullying. After building more understanding about bullying, students were asked to make group of 4 then created poster and infographic using information they had gotten from the session.

One representative from each group also got a chance to search more information about bullying in computer lab with the teachers. The poster and infographic made by the students will be used as their self-reminder to be aware and be wise to deal with bullying. On other session in the next day, students got more explanation and discussion about cyberbullying, including tips to avoid cyber bullying and UU ITE materials as reminder.

This sequel of bullying session was conducted to build more awareness about their way and habit in interact with their friends or other people they meet in real life or in virtual life using social media. By having more awareness, hopefully they can remind themselves and people surround them to be wise and careful in socializing through real life or virtual life interaction. ***
