As the Exit Point of IPC “They See They World Like This”, Primary 6 students created a kind of project that was an exciting journey. It brought students into the lively worlds of music and dance. It started with basic lessons where they learnt important music elements—rhythm, pitch, and texture. Through fun activities, they discovered how rhythm keeps the beat, how pitch creates melody, and how texture adds depth to music. These experiences helped students feel more confident to explore music.
After learning the basics, students focused on dance. They were introduced to different dance styles, from traditional to modern. This part encouraged them to move freely, try out different movements, and see how music affects dance. It was a fun time where they noticed the link between sound and movement.
As the project went on, the excitement grew. Students worked in big groups to create a final performance that combined their music and dance skills. Each group acted like a mini production team, with members taking on different roles. Some students made up dance choreography that matched the feel of their chosen music, while others picked the songs, thinking about their speed and mood. Other team members chose costumes and planned the stage setup to make the performance better.
Throughout this process, students helped each other, shared ideas, and made decisions together. Everyone took part in every step of the project, from brainstorming and rehearsing to the final show. The atmosphere was one of teamwork and shared excitement. By taking on roles like dancers, costume designers and choreographer students enjoyed being both creators and performers.
Students were encouraged to explore new movements, interpret music, and express themselves uniquely. It might boost their creativity, collaboration and communication skills. Moreover, students learnt that keeping track of practice times, working with others on group parts, and getting ready for a final show needs good planning, improved time management and organization. ***
