On Monday, 22 September, P6 students held ‘Poem Recital’, a poem showcase where they read aloud their own creations. It was not just about reciting lines, but about giving their words a voice—adding rhythm, feeling, and expression to what they had written. Some students read with calm confidence, while others needed a little push to overcome their nervousness. A few surprised us with powerful intonations and gestures, turning their short poems into heartfelt performances. Each of them, in their own way, showed that poetry is not only about writing, but also about sharing a message with others. In the process, they practiced skills step by step. First, remembering and pronouncing their lines correctly. Then, adding expressions and shaping the way they used their voices. Later, thinking about how to connect with the audience. Finally, reflecting on how they could do even better next time. The benefits are clear. Right now, the showcase has given them confidence, improved their speaking skills, and encouraged creativity. Looking ahead, this experience will help them grow into empathetic, thoughtful, and courageous individuals—able to speak up and share their ideas beyond the classroom. ***
